Ingredients(scaled)

  • 1 ½ 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ 1/4 cups warm water
  • ½ tsp active dry yeast
  • ½ 1/2 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture.
  3. Stir until the dough starts to come together.
  4. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Punch down the dough and divide it into 4 equal portions. Shape each portion into a baguette shape.
  7. Place the baguettes on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Make diagonal slashes on the top of each baguette.
  8. Cover the baguettes and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  9. Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
  10. Bake the baguettes for 20-25 minutes or until they are golden brown and sound hollow when tapped on the bottom.
  11. Cool on a wire rack before serving.
