Classic Chicken Bone Broth

Ingredients(scaled)

  • ½ whole chicken carcass (with some meat left on)
  • 1 carrots, chopped
  • 1 celery stalks, chopped
  • ½ onion, quartered
  • 2 cloves garlic, smashed
  • 1 bay leaves
  • ½ tablespoon whole peppercorns
  • ½ tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 4 cups water

Instructions

  1. Place the chicken carcass, carrots, celery, onion, garlic, bay leaves, peppercorns, and apple cider vinegar in the Instant Pot.
  2. Add water, ensuring all ingredients are submerged but not over the max fill line.
  3. Close the lid, set the valve to sealing, and cook on high pressure for 120 minutes.
  4. Allow natural pressure release for 15 minutes, then carefully quick release any remaining pressure.
  5. Using tongs, remove the large chicken bones and vegetables from the broth.
  6. Strain the broth through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth to remove any remaining solids.
  7. Let the broth cool before storing in containers. Refrigerate for up to 5 days or freeze for longer storage.
  8. Use the chicken bone broth as a base for soups, stews, or enjoy it on its own.
